Possible Causes
Built-up grease on heating element, Cooking high-fat foods at very high temperatures, Food particles stuck near heater, Using too much oil
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Fire Hazard: If flames appear, unplug the unit immediately and keep the drawer closed to smother the fire. Do not use water on grease fires.
- Step 1 – Pause cooking: Stop the cycle and carefully remove the basket once safe. Allow the unit to cool.
- Step 2 – Clean thoroughly: Wipe the interior, heating element area, and fan guard with a damp cloth and mild detergent to remove grease and food residue. Dry completely.
- Step 3 – Adjust cooking method: For high‑fat foods (bacon, sausages), cook at a slightly lower temperature and empty excess grease from the drawer halfway through cooking.
- Step 4 – Avoid excess oil: Lightly coat food with oil instead of pouring oil into the basket.
- Step 5 – Test with empty preheat: Run a short preheat cycle after cleaning to burn off any remaining residue, monitoring for smoke.
