Possible Causes
Grease buildup on heating element, Using too much oil or fatty foods, Food particles on cavity floor, Temperature set too high for food type
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If heavy smoke appears, unplug the unit and open windows. Do not pour water into the hot air fryer.
- Clean thoroughly: After cooling, remove the basket and tray. Clean them and the interior cavity with degreaser to remove built-up grease, especially around the heater.
- Use drip tray: Ensure the crisper tray is installed so fat drips away from the heater.
- Reduce oil: Use minimal oil when air frying; excess oil can aerosolize and burn.
- Lower temperature: For very fatty foods (e.g., bacon), reduce the temperature and cook longer to minimize splatter.
- Check for plastic or packaging: Make sure no packaging materials are left inside that could burn.
