Possible Causes
Grease buildup on heater and basket, Using too much oil, Food particles contacting heating element, Drip tray not installed correctly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If you see flames, unplug immediately and keep the drawer closed until the fire is out. Do not use water on grease fires.
- Clean thoroughly: Once cool, remove basket and pan. Clean both with hot soapy water. Wipe the heater guard and interior surfaces with a degreaser, avoiding soaking electrical parts.
- Check drip tray: Ensure the bottom pan or drip tray is correctly installed to catch fat and that it is not overfilled with grease.
- Reduce oil: Use minimal oil and avoid spraying oil directly onto the heater area.
- Cooking practice: For very fatty foods (e.g., bacon), pause mid‑cycle to drain excess fat from the pan.
