Advertisements
Possible Causes
Built-up grease on heating element, Excess oil or fatty foods at high temperature, Food particles stuck on basket and pan, Using non-air-fryer-safe oils with low smoke point
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If heavy smoke appears, unplug the unit and carefully slide out the basket to allow smoke to dissipate. Keep the appliance away from flammable materials.
Steps to reduce smoke:
- Thorough cleaning: Once cool, remove the basket and pan. Clean them with hot soapy water. Wipe the interior and heating element area with a degreaser-safe cloth.
- Remove residue: Use a soft brush to gently remove carbonized grease from the heater guard and interior surfaces.
- Adjust cooking method: Avoid overfilling the basket and reduce temperature for very fatty foods. Empty excess fat from the pan between batches.
- Use appropriate oils: If adding oil, use high smoke point oils and apply sparingly.
