Possible Causes
Excess oil or fatty foods in basket, Grease buildup on heater and interior surfaces, Food particles stuck on heater guard, Temperature set too high for food type
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: If heavy smoke appears, turn off and unplug the unit. Allow it to cool before cleaning.
- Remove excess oil: Avoid adding large amounts of oil. For fatty foods (bacon, sausages), empty the drawer periodically to remove rendered fat.
- Clean interior: Once cool, wipe the heater guard, walls, and drawer with a degreasing cleaner suitable for kitchen appliances. Do not spray directly onto the heater; use a damp cloth.
- Check heater guard: Remove any burnt-on food from the heater guard using a soft brush.
- Adjust temperature: Use lower temperatures for very fatty foods to reduce smoke.
- Do not cover air inlets: Avoid lining the basket with foil that blocks airflow, which can cause localized burning.
