Possible Causes
Too much oil or fatty food in basket, Grease pooled at bottom of drawer, Food particles on heating element, Temperature set too high for food type
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If heavy smoke appears, switch off, unplug, and carefully pull out the drawer slightly to vent. Keep away from flammable materials.
- Reduce oil: Use minimal oil when cooking. Pat very fatty foods dry before placing in the basket.
- Clean between batches: If cooking multiple batches, empty crumbs and grease from the drawer between cycles.
- Clean heater area: After cooling, clean any splattered grease from the heating element and fan guard.
- Adjust temperature: Use a lower temperature setting for very fatty foods like bacon or sausages to reduce smoke.
Warning: Persistent smoke even with clean components may indicate overheating or a failing thermostat; discontinue use and have the unit inspected.
