Possible Causes
Grease buildup on heating element and interior surfaces, Overfilled basket with fatty foods, Using too much oil, Dirty exhaust filter (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If heavy smoke appears, unplug the unit and carefully open windows for ventilation.
- Step 1 – Clean thoroughly: After cooling, remove the basket and drawer. Clean the interior, including the heating element guard, with a degreaser safe for appliances.
- Step 2 – Reduce oil: Use minimal oil when cooking and avoid adding water or marinades that can splatter.
- Step 3 – Drain fat: For very fatty foods, pause cooking halfway to drain accumulated fat from the drawer.
- Step 4 – Check exhaust filter: If your Vida by PADERNO model has a removable exhaust or odor filter, remove and clean or replace it according to the manual.
Warning: Do not leave the air fryer unattended when cooking high-fat foods that tend to smoke.
