Bunn
Under-Extraction / Low Brew Temperature or Contact Time
Bunn coffee tastes weak or under-extracted even though brew volume is correct.

Possible Causes
Tank temperature too low, Incorrect sprayhead pattern, Too coarse grind, Insufficient coffee dose
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Normal handling precautions; no internal hot work required unless checking temperature.
Steps:
- 1. Verify warm-up: Ensure the brewer has had sufficient time to heat the internal tank (often 15–20 minutes) before brewing. The "Ready" light should be on if equipped.
- 2. Check sprayhead: Confirm the correct Bunn sprayhead is installed and that all holes are clear. A restricted pattern can shorten contact time.
- 3. Adjust grind and dose: Use a medium grind suitable for drip brewing and follow Bunn's recommended coffee-to-water ratio (typically about 1–2 tablespoons per 6 oz of water).
- 4. Measure brew temperature (advanced): Using a food thermometer, measure water temperature at the sprayhead during brew. It should typically be around 195–205°F (90–96°C). If significantly lower, the thermostat or control may need adjustment or replacement.
