Possible Causes

Scaled steam boiler, Clogged steam tip holes, Low steam pressure due to misadjusted pressurestat, Failing heating element in steam boiler

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off, unplug, and allow pressure to drop before removing the steam tip.

  • Clean steam tip: Unscrew the steam tip and soak it in descaler. Use a fine needle to clear each hole. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Check pressure: Observe the boiler pressure gauge (if equipped). Normal operating pressure is typically around 1.0–1.3 bar. If much lower, adjust or replace the pressurestat or check the pressure sensor.
  • Descale boiler: Perform a controlled descaling of the steam boiler following Rancilio procedures. Heavy scale reduces heat transfer and steam production.
  • Test steam element: If the boiler does not reach set pressure, test the steam boiler heating element for continuity and replace if open.
