Possible Causes
Boiler thermostat stuck at too high temperature, Hotplate overheating and cooking coffee, Grind size too fine causing slow flow, Brew basket drip-stop partially closed extending contact time
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Allow the unit to cool before touching the hotplate or internal parts.
- Adjust grind and dose: Use a slightly coarser grind and avoid overfilling the filter.
- Check brew time: If a full pot takes significantly longer than 6 minutes, the flow may be restricted. Clean the brew basket outlet and drip-stop thoroughly.
- Monitor hotplate: If coffee becomes bitter after sitting, the hotplate may be too hot. Verify that the hotplate thermostat is functioning (see overheating hotplate scenario) and that the hotplate is not left on for excessive periods.
- Thermostat evaluation (advanced): If coffee is extremely hot and bitter immediately after brewing, the boiler thermostat may be running too hot and should be tested and replaced if out of spec.
