Possible Causes
Wood chip tray not contacting heating element, Excess moisture in wood chips, Warped chip pan, Incorrect chip loader position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat-resistant gloves when adjusting components in a hot smoker.
- Check chip tray placement: Ensure the Smokehouse wood chip tray is fully seated in its holder and positioned directly above or in contact with the heating element as designed.
- Use dry wood chips: Use properly seasoned, dry wood chips recommended by Smokehouse Products. Avoid soaking chips excessively.
- Inspect chip pan: If the pan is warped and no longer sits flat on the support, replace it so heat transfers evenly.
- Adjust chip loader (if equipped): Verify the chip loader is fully inserted and rotated to the correct position for feeding chips onto the element area.
