Incomplete Combustion / Over-Smoking
Smoker produces too much thick white smoke and food tastes bitter

Possible Causes
Too much wood in wood box, Restricted exhaust vent, Wet or resinous wood, Low temperature causing smolder without clean burn
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use gloves when handling the hot wood box. Avoid inhaling heavy smoke directly.
Steps:
- Reduce wood quantity: Use the amount of wood recommended by Smokin-It (often only a few ounces). Overfilling the wood box leads to heavy, dirty smoke.
- Open exhaust vent: Ensure the top vent is fully open to allow smoke to flow out. Do not cover or restrict it.
- Use proper wood: Avoid green, wet, or softwoods. Use dry hardwood chunks (hickory, apple, etc.).
- Adjust temperature: Very low temperatures can cause smoldering without clean combustion. Raise the temperature slightly until the smoke thins to a light blue or nearly invisible.
