Possible Causes

Incorrect PWM duty cycle generation on EO PCB, Vehicle not responding to pilot signal, Damaged CP resistor network, Firmware incompatibility with specific EV

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Communication faults are low‑risk electrically, but always isolate power before opening the unit.

  • Test with another EV: If possible, connect a different vehicle to determine whether the issue is vehicle‑specific.
  • Inspect CP components: With power off, visually inspect the area of the PCB associated with the control pilot circuit for burnt resistors or damaged components.
  • Check connector and cable: Ensure the CP conductor and its terminals are intact from the PCB to the Type 2 connector.
  • Firmware update: Use the EO app or installer tools to check for and apply any firmware updates that may improve compatibility with newer EVs.
  • Replace PCB if necessary: If E18 persists across multiple vehicles and after firmware updates, the PWM generation or sensing circuitry on the PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
