How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Always unplug the Leisure freezer before removing the evaporator cover or working near wiring. Edges of metal panels can be sharp; wear cut-resistant gloves.
Steps to resolve E2 (evaporator sensor):
- 1. Defrost access: Empty the freezer section enough to remove the rear inner panel covering the evaporator. If heavily iced, allow a manual defrost (doors open, towels on floor) until ice melts and the panel can be removed without force.
- 2. Locate the evaporator NTC: It is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted in a small plastic holder on the coil. Note its original position for correct reinstallation.
- 3. Visual inspection: Check for broken insulation, corroded connectors, or a sensor that has come loose from the coil. Ensure the sensor is not dangling away from the evaporator.
- 4. Electrical test: Disconnect the NTC from its connector and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to expected NTC values (commonly 5–10 kΩ at 25°C). If reading is infinite (open) or near zero (short), the sensor is defective.
- 5. Replace the evaporator NTC: Purchase a model-specific Leisure evaporator NTC sensor. Clip it firmly back onto the evaporator tube or into its holder, ensuring good thermal contact. Route the cable away from sharp fins and secure with cable ties.
- 6. Check harness to PCB: Follow the sensor wires to the main control PCB. Reseat the connector and inspect for pin corrosion or damage.
- 7. Reassemble and test: Refit the evaporator cover, restore power, and set the freezer to normal operating temperature. The E2 code should clear once the board detects a valid sensor reading.
- 8. If E2 remains: The main control PCB may be faulty. Replacement of the main control PCB is a more advanced repair and may require a professional.
