Possible Causes

Misadjusted mechanical limit switches on CAME operator, Faulty magnetic or electronic encoder, Broken limit switch wiring, Incorrect memorized travel limits in control unit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the motor cover or adjusting limits. Support the door to prevent uncontrolled movement.

Steps:

  • Check mechanical limits: On chain/belt drive CAME operators with cams, verify that the open and close limit cams are correctly positioned and actuate the microswitches at the end of travel.
  • Inspect limit switches: Look for broken actuators or water ingress. Test each switch with a multimeter for continuity when pressed.
  • Encoder systems: If your CAME model uses an encoder, inspect the encoder disc and sensor for dirt or damage. Ensure the encoder plug is firmly seated on the control board.
  • Reprogram limits: Follow the CAME manual to erase and re‑learn the door travel limits. Typically this involves entering programming mode and running a full open/close cycle.
  • Check wiring: Verify continuity of the limit/encoder cable from the motor head to the control board terminals.

If E6 persists after re‑learning and verifying wiring, the encoder or limit switch assembly may need replacement.
