Possible Causes
Incorrectly calibrated force profile on Nice operator, Stiff door movement at specific point, Worn rollers or bent track, Incorrect parameter settings for motor type or door size
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before mechanical inspection. Do not increase force to unsafe levels.
- Inspect mechanical path: With the opener disconnected (manual release), move the door slowly by hand. Pay attention to any tight spots or binding at the same position where it normally stops. Correct bent tracks, replace damaged rollers, and lubricate hinges.
- Check spring balance: If the door is heavy or drops quickly, the torsion or extension springs are out of balance. Have a professional door technician adjust or replace springs.
- Reset and recalibrate: Many Nice units allow a force or travel learning cycle. Clear previous settings (factory reset if needed) and run the automatic learning procedure exactly as described in the Nice manual.
- Verify parameters: In the programming menu, confirm door type, size, and motor parameters are set correctly. Incorrect settings can cause oversensitive obstacle detection.
- Test multiple cycles: After adjustments, run several full open/close cycles. If E9 still appears at the same point with a smooth door, the motor torque sensor or control board may be defective.
