De'Longhi Foaming / Overfill Causing Steam Venting

Excessive steam and liquid spurting from the pressure valve during cooking; food splatters onto the lid.

Possible Causes

Pot filled above MAX line, Cooking foamy foods (pasta, beans, porridge) without proper liquid ratio, Clogged anti-block shield, Pressure regulator partially blocked

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not cover or block the steam outlet. Allow the cooker to finish or cancel the program and depressurize naturally if safe.

  • Check fill level: After depressurizing and cooling, open the lid and verify that food does not exceed the MAX mark. For beans, grains, and frothy foods, fill only to 1/2–2/3 of capacity.
  • Clean anti-block shield and valve: Remove and wash the anti-block shield and pressure valve to clear any starch buildup.
  • Adjust recipes: Use recommended water ratios and a bit of oil for foamy foods to reduce foaming.
  • Use natural release: For very foamy dishes, allow pressure to drop naturally instead of quick release to minimize splatter.
