Water or foam spurts from the steam release valve during pressure cooking.

Possible Causes
Pot filled above recommended level, Cooking foamy foods (beans, pasta, porridge) without enough headspace, Clogged anti-block shield, Rapid pressure release with foamy contents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep face and hands away from the steam outlet. Use a long utensil to operate the valve.
- Stop and cool: Cancel the program and allow natural pressure release if safe.
- Reduce fill level: For foamy foods, fill only to 1/2–2/3 of the pot as specified in the ETA manual.
- Clean anti-block shield: Remove and wash the shield under the lid to clear foam residue.
- Use controlled release: For foamy dishes, use natural release or intermittent, gentle venting instead of full quick release.
When to call a technician: If spurting continues with correct fill and clean parts, have the lid and valve assembly inspected.
