Possible Causes
Blocked anti-block shield, Steam release valve not seated correctly, Worn valve silicone cap, Excessive filling above MAX line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow pressure to release fully before removing the valve. Use a cloth to protect your hand from residual heat.
- Check fill level: Ensure food and liquid are below the MAX mark on the inner pot, especially for starchy foods.
- Clean anti-block shield: Remove the shield from the underside of the lid. Soak and scrub away any starch or grease.
- Disassemble valve: Remove the steam release valve knob and internal parts. Clean all passages thoroughly and ensure the silicone cap is not torn.
- Reassemble correctly: Follow the Kenwood manual diagram to ensure the valve parts are in the correct order and orientation.
If the valve still vents excessively with correct fill levels, replace the steam release valve assembly.
