Lagostina Foaming / Overboil Through Steam Vent

Excessive steam or liquid spurts from the steam release valve during cooking.

Possible Causes

Pot overfilled beyond max line, Cooking foamy foods (starches, beans) without enough oil, Anti-block shield clogged, Steam release valve partially blocked

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Keep face and hands away from the vent. If venting is violent, unplug and allow pressure to drop naturally.

  • Check fill level: Ensure food and liquid do not exceed the maximum fill line, and for beans/grains, stay below 2/3 full.
  • Use oil for foamy foods: Add a spoonful of oil when cooking starchy foods to reduce foaming.
  • Clean anti-block shield and valve: After cooling, remove and thoroughly clean the anti-block shield and steam release valve.
  • Use natural release: For very foamy dishes, allow pressure to drop naturally instead of quick release to minimize spurting.

If spurting continues despite proper filling and cleaning, the valve assembly may need replacement.
