Possible Causes

Insufficient liquid, High temperature with thick or starchy foods, Food stuck to bottom forming a burnt layer, Faulty temperature regulation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Press Cancel, unplug the cooker, and allow it to depressurize naturally or via the steam release valve. Keep face and hands away from steam.

Steps:

  • Open and inspect: Once safe, open the lid and check the bottom of the pot for burnt food.
  • Remove burnt layer: Transfer unburnt food to another container. Soak the pot in warm soapy water and gently scrub with a non-abrasive sponge.
  • Adjust recipes: Add more liquid, stir more frequently (for non-pressure sauté modes), or use a lower temperature setting.
  • Clean sensor area: After removing the pot, wipe the heating plate and sensor area to remove any residue.

If burning occurs even with adequate liquid and correct settings, the temperature sensor or control board may be misreading and should be checked by service.
