Possible Causes
Overfilled pot, Cooking very starchy or foamy foods, Insufficient natural pressure release time, Blocked anti-block shield
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Keep face and hands away from the valve. Use a long utensil to operate the valve if necessary.
- Use natural release: For beans, grains, and starchy foods, allow pressure to drop naturally for 10–15 minutes before using quick release.
- Reduce fill level: Do not fill above the recommended level for foamy foods (often 1/2 to 2/3 full).
- Clean anti-block shield and valve: After cooling, remove and thoroughly clean the anti-block shield and steam release valve.
- Add oil: Add a small amount of cooking oil to reduce foaming.
- Next time: Adjust recipes and release methods to minimize boil-over risk.
