How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before opening any covers. Avoid pulling on wires directly.
- Power reset: Leave the cooker unplugged for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try a simple program. If E5 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
- Access the sensor: Remove the bottom cover. Locate the NTC temperature sensor attached to the heating plate or inner chassis (usually a small metal probe or disc with two wires).
- Check wiring and connectors: Inspect the sensor wires for cuts, burns, or pinching. Ensure the connector is firmly seated on the main PCB. Clean any visible corrosion with contact cleaner and a cotton swab.
- Continuity test (advanced): Using a multimeter, measure resistance across the NTC leads. A typical reading is between 10k–100k ohms at room temperature. Infinite (open) or near 0 ohms (short) indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace sensor if faulty: If the NTC is defective, replace it with a compatible SilverCrest multicooker NTC sensor. Reassemble and test again.
