Possible Causes
Spilled grease or food on bottom or elements, foil covering oven bottom, new-oven protective oils burning off, dirty convection fan area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Ensure good kitchen ventilation when burning off residues.
- Inspect interior: Look for heavy grease or food buildup on the bottom, racks, and elements.
- Clean oven: Use the recommended KitchenAid oven cleaner or a mild degreaser (not on self-clean enamel) and wipe thoroughly.
- Remove foil: Do not line the oven bottom or racks with foil, as it traps heat and burns residues.
- Burn-off cycle: Run the oven empty at 400–450°F for 30–60 minutes with good ventilation to burn off remaining residues.
