Possible Causes
Grease buildup on cavity surfaces, Spilled food on bottom panel or element, Using inappropriate cookware or oils at high temperature, New-oven protective coatings burning off
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good kitchen ventilation when smoke occurs. Turn off the oven if smoke is heavy or persistent.
- 1. Inspect cavity: When cool, remove racks and check the bottom, sides, and top of the oven for baked-on grease or spills. Clean with a La Cornue-approved oven cleaner.
- 2. Clean under panels: If your model has a removable bottom panel, lift it to clean any spills on the hidden surface or element cover.
- 3. Break-in procedure: For new ovens, run an empty bake cycle at moderate temperature (e.g., 200°C) for 30–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing residues, following the manual.
- 4. Cooking practices: Use trays or drip pans under fatty foods and avoid placing food directly over elements where drips can burn.
