Possible Causes
Spilled grease or food on bottom panel, Dirty bake element, Using incorrect cookware or liners that off-gas, New oven protective oils burning off
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good kitchen ventilation. If smoke is heavy, turn off the oven and open windows.
- Inspect interior: Once cool, remove racks and check the bottom panel and bake element for heavy grease or food buildup. Clean with a non-abrasive oven cleaner suitable for LG ovens.
- Avoid foil on bottom: Do not line the oven bottom with foil, as it can trap spills and cause smoke.
- Burn-in new oven: For new LG ovens, run an empty bake cycle at 400–450°F for 30–60 minutes with good ventilation to burn off manufacturing residues.
- Use proper cookware: Avoid using non-oven-safe plastics or low-quality nonstick pans that can smoke at high temperatures.
