Possible Causes
Spilled fat or food on elements, Foil touching elements, Build-up of grease on liners, Incorrect cleaning products left on surfaces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If there is heavy smoke, switch off the oven and open windows. Allow to cool before cleaning.
- 1. Inspect interior: Look for heavy grease deposits, especially on the base and around elements.
- 2. Remove loose debris: Take out shelves and side runners. Scrape off large deposits with a plastic scraper.
- 3. Clean with appropriate products: Use a non-caustic oven cleaner suitable for enamel and catalytic liners. Avoid spraying directly on elements; wipe them with a damp cloth only when cool.
- 4. Avoid foil contact: Do not line the base or cover shelves with foil that can touch elements or block airflow.
- 5. Burn-off cycle: After cleaning, run the oven empty at a moderate temperature (e.g. 180°C) for 30–45 minutes to burn off residues.
