Possible Causes
Spilled grease or food on bottom panel, Foil covering oven floor or racks, New oven protective oils burning off, Incorrect cookware or high fat content
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Ensure good kitchen ventilation. Avoid opening the door rapidly if heavy smoke is present.
- Inspect interior: After the oven cools, remove racks and check the bottom panel and walls for heavy grease or food spills. Clean with a non-abrasive oven cleaner approved for Thor Kitchen ovens.
- Remove foil: Do not line the oven bottom or racks with foil, as this can trap grease and cause smoking.
- Burn-off cycle: For a new oven, run an empty bake cycle at 400–450°F for 30–60 minutes with good ventilation to burn off manufacturing residues.
- Use proper cookware: Use deep pans for fatty foods to prevent drips and splatter.
