Possible Causes

Failed oven temperature sensor, Stuck bake or broil relay on control board, Poor airflow around oven causing overheating, Wiring short between sensor and control

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker and allow the oven to cool completely before inspection.

  • Step 1 – Confirm actual temperature: If the oven interior is clearly much hotter than the set temperature when F2 appears, suspect a stuck relay or sensor issue.
  • Step 2 – Inspect oven temperature sensor: Locate the temperature sensor probe inside the oven (usually a thin metal rod at the back wall). With power OFF, remove the mounting screws and gently pull the sensor forward to access the connector. Check for loose or burnt connections.
  • Step 3 – Electrical check (for trained users): With the sensor disconnected and the oven still powered OFF, measure resistance across the sensor with a multimeter. A typical sensor at room temperature should read around 1080–1100 Ω (check Zline specs). If it is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the sensor.
  • Step 4 – Inspect wiring harness: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Look for pinched, melted, or shorted wires, especially near the oven cavity.
  • Step 5 – Control board evaluation: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact, the bake or broil relay on the control board may be stuck closed, causing overheating. Replace the electronic oven control board.

Warning: Do not continue using the oven if it overheats; this is a fire hazard. If you are not comfortable testing live circuits, contact a professional.
