Possible Causes

Excess grease buildup on drip tray, Cooking fatty meats at high temperature, Foil blocking grease flow, Drip tray misaligned

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do NOT open the lid fully or use water on a grease fire. Turn the grill off, unplug it, and keep the lid closed to starve the fire of oxygen. Have a Class B fire extinguisher nearby.

  • Step 1 – Contain the fire: Leave the lid closed until flames subside and the grill cools.
  • Step 2 – Clean thoroughly: Once cool, remove grates and drip tray. Scrape and clean all grease from the drip tray, heat diffuser, and grease channel.
  • Step 3 – Check drip tray alignment: Reinstall the drip tray correctly so grease flows to the bucket.
  • Step 4 – Avoid blocking grease flow: If using foil, do not cover the entire drip tray; leave the drain path open.
  • Step 5 – Monitor future cooks: Clean grease regularly, especially after cooking high‑fat foods.
