Grilla Grills
Temperature Overshoot / Poor Temperature Regulation
Grill overshoots set temperature by 50°F or more and struggles to stabilize, especially at low settings.

Possible Causes
Incorrect P-setting, Dirty RTD temperature probe, Excessive pellet feed rate, Restricted exhaust or airflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat-resistant gloves when working near a hot grill.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Clean RTD probe: Gently clean the internal temperature probe with a soft cloth to remove grease and soot that can insulate it.
- 2. Adjust P-setting: Reduce the P-setting one step at a time to decrease pellet feed at low temperatures. Allow 20–30 minutes for stabilization after each change.
- 3. Improve airflow: Ensure the chimney cap is properly adjusted and not fully closed. Check that the combustion fan intake is clear.
- 4. Use quality pellets: Poor-quality pellets can burn inconsistently and contribute to overshoot. Switch to a reputable hardwood pellet brand.
When to call a technician: If overshoot persists with a clean probe and proper settings, the control board may be out of calibration and require replacement.
