How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do NOT use water on a grease fire. Keep the lid closed, turn off the grill, and unplug it. Have a Class B fire extinguisher nearby.
- Step 1 – Shut down: Turn the controller OFF and unplug the grill. Keep the lid closed to starve the fire of oxygen.
- Step 2 – Extinguish if needed: If flames escape the grill, use a fire extinguisher rated for grease fires. Do not open the lid fully until flames subside.
- Step 3 – After cooling, deep clean: Once completely cool, remove grates, drip pan, and heat baffle. Scrape and clean all grease from the drip pan, grease channel, and interior surfaces.
- Step 4 – Inspect wiring and components: Check for heat damage to the RTD probe, wiring, and gaskets. Replace any melted or charred parts.
- Step 5 – Prevent recurrence: Clean the drip pan and grease system regularly, especially after cooking fatty meats at high temperatures.
