Possible Causes
Combustion fan weak or not running at full speed, Burn pot partially blocked, Low-quality pellets with low BTU, RTD probe misreading high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Allow the grill to cool before cleaning internal components.
- Step 1 – Clean burn pot and firebox: Remove all ash and ensure the burn pot holes are clear for proper airflow.
- Step 2 – Check fan performance: Listen for strong airflow during operation. If airflow is weak, inspect the fan blades for grease buildup and clean or replace the fan.
- Step 3 – Use high-quality pellets: Switch to a reputable brand of hardwood pellets recommended by Louisiana Grills. Avoid pellets with high bark or filler content.
- Step 4 – Inspect RTD probe: If the probe is positioned too close to the firebox or shielded by foil, it may read hotter than the actual chamber. Ensure it is unobstructed.
- Step 5 – Check for lid leaks: Replace worn lid gaskets or adjust lid alignment to reduce heat loss.
