Possible Causes
Long P-setting pauses, Wind or cold ambient temperature, Inconsistent pellet feed due to fines, Fire pot too full of ash over time
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Always verify there is no unburned fuel overload before relighting.
- 1. Adjust settings:
- Use a moderate P-setting (P3–P4) instead of the longest pause settings.
- Avoid extremely low setpoints in very cold or windy weather.
- 2. Clean regularly:
- Vacuum the fire pot and barrel before any long cook.
- Check and clean ash every 4–6 hours on very long smokes.
- 3. Improve pellet feed:
- Sift pellets to remove fines or use higher-quality pellets.
- Keep hopper at least 1/3 full to maintain consistent feed.
- 4. Shield from wind:
- Use a windbreak or grill blanket to reduce flame disturbance.
