How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use caution when opening a potentially overheated grill; stand back from escaping heat.
- Step 1 – Remove obstructions: Ensure no foil, pans, or accessories are blocking airflow around the RTD probe.
- Step 2 – Clean RTD: Remove heavy grease and soot from the probe.
- Step 3 – Verify with external thermometer: Place an oven thermometer at grate level and compare readings.
- Step 4 – Reposition accessories: Avoid placing large pans or deflectors directly in front of the RTD.
- Step 5 – Replace RTD or controller: If the display remains significantly lower than actual temperature, replace the RTD, then the control board if needed.
