Monument Grills
Displayed Temperature Higher Than Actual Chamber Temperature
Grill temperature is much lower than display reading (food undercooked)

Possible Causes
RTD probe reading too high due to location, RTD partially shorted, Heavy heat near probe from localized flame, Control board calibration drift
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat‑resistant gloves when placing thermometers in a hot grill.
- Step 1 – Verify with external thermometer: Place a reliable oven thermometer or probe at grate level away from direct flame. Compare to the Monument display.
- Step 2 – Clean and inspect RTD: Clean the RTD probe and ensure it is not bent toward the firepot or a hot spot.
- Step 3 – Adjust cooking technique: If the display is consistently high, cook to internal meat temperature using a food probe rather than relying solely on chamber reading.
- Step 4 – Replace RTD or controller: If the discrepancy is large and consistent, replace the RTD probe. If the issue persists, replace the main control board.
