Possible Causes
Excess grease buildup on drip pan and in grease channel, Cooking at high temperature with very fatty foods, Misplaced drip pan exposing open flame to grease
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do NOT use water on a grease fire. Keep the lid closed, turn the grill OFF, and unplug it. Use a Class B or K fire extinguisher if flames escape the cook chamber.
- Do not open lid immediately: Starve the fire of oxygen by keeping the lid closed until flames subside.
- After cool‑down: Once completely cool, remove grates and drip pan. Scrape and clean all grease from the drip pan, grease channel, and cook chamber.
- Inspect for damage: Check wiring, RTD probe, and paint near the fire area for heat damage. Replace any melted components.
- Prevent recurrence: Line the drip pan with heavy‑duty foil if recommended by Nexgrill, and clean regularly, especially after cooking fatty meats.
