Possible Causes
Excessive grease buildup on drip tray, Cooking very fatty meats at high temperature, Foil blocking grease flow to drain, Drip tray misaligned
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Immediate action:
- Turn the controller to OFF and unplug the grill.
- Keep the lid closed to starve the fire of oxygen. Do not open the lid until flames subside.
- Do not use water on a grease fire. Use a Class B fire extinguisher if necessary.
After cooling:
- Remove grates and drip tray. Scrape and clean all grease from the tray, grease channels, and bottom of the cook chamber.
- Ensure the drip tray is correctly installed and not blocked by foil.
- Resume cooking with lower temperatures for very fatty foods and monitor grease buildup.
Warning: If any wiring, paint, or structural components appear damaged from the fire, have the grill inspected by a qualified technician before further use.
