Possible Causes
Damp or poor-quality pellets, Restricted combustion air from dirty fan or intake, Overfilled firepot, Low combustion fan speed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Operate only outdoors and avoid breathing heavy smoke.
- Use dry pellets: Empty the hopper and refill with fresh, dry, high-quality hardwood pellets.
- Clean firepot: Vacuum out ash and unburned pellets from the firepot to prevent smothering the fire.
- Inspect fan and intake: Check the combustion fan and air intake openings for grease or debris and clean thoroughly.
- Run at slightly higher temp: Temporarily increase the set temperature to promote cleaner combustion, then adjust back once the fire stabilizes.
- Replace weak fan: If airflow remains low and smoke stays thick, replace the combustion fan assembly.
