Low Temperature / Flame-Out Condition
Display shows LO or low temperature warning; grill fails to reach set temperature and may shut down.

Possible Causes
Insufficient pellet feed to firepot, Wet or poor-quality pellets, Excessive wind or cold ambient conditions affecting combustion
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the grill has flamed out, there may be unburned pellets in the firepot. Unplug the grill and allow it to cool before relighting.
Steps to resolve LO / flame-out:
- Check pellet level and quality: Ensure the hopper has enough pellets. Inspect for moisture; discard any swollen or crumbly pellets and refill with fresh, dry hardwood pellets.
- Clean the firepot: Remove grates, drip pan, and heat deflector. Vacuum ash and unburned pellets from the firepot and surrounding area. A clogged firepot can smother the flame.
- Verify auger operation: With the grill empty and cool, start a feed test (if available) or a low-temp cook. Observe through the firepot or hopper that pellets are feeding consistently.
- Check combustion fan: Confirm that the fan is running during operation. Weak or no airflow can cause low temperature and flame-out.
- Wind and weather: In high wind or very cold weather, use a grill cover or windbreak and allow extra preheat time. Avoid opening the lid frequently during startup.
- Restart safely: After cleaning and verifying feed and airflow, restart the grill following Recteq's standard ignition procedure. Monitor until stable flame and temperature are achieved.
Note: Persistent LO errors with good pellets and a clean firepot may indicate an auger motor, fan, or controller issue that requires further diagnosis.
