Possible Causes
Excess grease buildup on drip tray, Blocked grease drain causing pooling, Cooking at very high temperatures with dirty tray, Foil or pans blocking grease flow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not open the lid fully during an active grease fire. Turn the grill off, unplug it, and keep the lid closed to starve the fire of oxygen. Never use water on a grease fire.
- 1. Extinguish safely: If flames escape the grill, use a Class B or multipurpose fire extinguisher. Once the fire is out, allow the grill to cool completely.
- 2. Deep clean: Remove grates and drip tray. Scrape and wash all grease from the tray, grease channel, and drain tube. Empty and clean the grease bucket.
- 3. Inspect for damage: Check wiring, paint, and components near the fire area for heat damage. Replace any melted or charred parts.
- 4. Avoid foil blockage: If you use foil on the drip tray, ensure it does not block grease flow to the drain.
- 5. Maintenance schedule: Clean the drip tray and grease system regularly, especially before high‑temperature cooks.
