How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Work on a cool grill. Wear gloves and eye protection when using wire brushes.
- 1. Remove loose rust:
- Use a grill brush or fine steel wool to remove surface rust from grates and interior surfaces.
- 2. Clean and dry:
- Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth, then dry thoroughly.
- 3. Reseason grates:
- Apply a thin coat of high-smoke-point cooking oil to grates.
- Run the grill at 350–400°F for 30–45 minutes.
- 4. Improve storage:
- Use a Traeger grill cover when not in use.
- Avoid leaving pellets in the hopper in very humid environments.
