Possible Causes
Temperature sensor out of calibration, Sensor placement affected by foil or accessories, Control board PID tuning issue, Excessive pellet feed rate
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use heat-resistant gloves when working near a hot cook chamber.
Steps to improve temperature stability:
- 1. Verify sensor exposure: Ensure the grill temperature sensor is not covered by foil, pans, or accessories. It must be exposed to chamber air.
- 2. Clean the sensor: Wipe grease and soot from the sensor probe with a soft cloth and mild cleaner.
- 3. Compare with a reference thermometer: Place a reliable oven thermometer at grate level and compare readings. If the built-in sensor is consistently off, consider replacement.
- 4. Check for firmware updates: Some Twin Eagles models may receive control updates that improve temperature control. Follow manufacturer instructions.
If overshoot remains severe, the control board or sensor may be defective and should be replaced.
