Possible Causes
Poor-quality or damp pellets, Restricted combustion air from dirty fan or vents, Excessive ash buildup in fire pot, Weak combustion fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and unplug the grill. Allow it to cool before cleaning.
- Check pellets: Ensure you are using dry, high-quality hardwood pellets recommended by Weber. Replace any pellets that are swollen or crumbly.
- Clean fire pot and cookbox: Remove grates and baffles. Vacuum ash from the fire pot and bottom of the cookbox. Ash restricts airflow and reduces heat.
- Inspect combustion fan: Access the fan and clean any dust, grease, or debris from the blades and housing. Confirm the fan spins freely.
- Check exhaust and air inlets: Make sure the chimney cap and any side vents are not blocked by grease or debris.
- Test on high: Reassemble and run the grill on its highest setting with the lid closed. If temperatures are still low, the combustion fan may be weak or the control board may be underfeeding pellets, requiring component replacement.
