Possible Causes
High incoming line voltage, Regenerative overvoltage from rapid deceleration, Faulty DC bus capacitors in Franklin Electric drive, Incorrect braking or ramp settings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: High voltage is present. Only qualified personnel should work inside the drive.
- Check line voltage: Measure supply voltage and compare to motor/drive rating. If consistently high, consult the utility or an electrician.
- Adjust acceleration/deceleration: In the Franklin Electric drive parameters, increase deceleration time to reduce regenerative energy that can overcharge the DC bus.
- Inspect DC bus components: With power off and after waiting for capacitors to discharge, visually inspect the drive PCB for bulging capacitors or burn marks. Replace the drive if damaged.
- Verify filter and line reactors: If recommended by Franklin Electric for your installation, ensure line reactors or filters are installed to smooth voltage spikes.
- Test operation: After adjustments, clear E09 and run the pump. If the error recurs, replace the VFD/control module.
