How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and wait for capacitors to discharge before opening the cooktop.
Steps:
- Access coil area: Remove the cooktop from the counter and take off the bottom cover to expose the coils.
- Locate sensor: Find the small sensor (usually clipped or glued) on the affected coil. Check that it is firmly attached and not hanging loose.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the power module. Look for cuts, burns, or loose connectors.
- Replace sensor: If the sensor is damaged or detached, replace the coil temperature sensor or the entire coil assembly, depending on SMEG design.
- Module check: If a new sensor does not resolve E7, the power module input may be defective and the module should be replaced.
