Possible Causes
Grease buildup on oven floor or walls, Food spills not cleaned, Using inappropriate cookware or oils at high temperature, Broiler pan too close to element
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use oven mitts and avoid inhaling heavy smoke. If flames appear, turn off the oven and keep the door closed.
- Cool and clean: Allow the oven to cool completely. Remove racks and clean the interior with a non-abrasive cleaner, focusing on heavy grease and spills.
- Check cookware: Use proper oven-safe pans with sides high enough to contain splatter. Avoid overfilling pans with fats.
- Adjust rack position: Keep food at an appropriate distance from the broil element to reduce splatter and burning.
For heavy buildup, run a self-clean cycle following Thermador’s instructions, ensuring good ventilation. Do not leave the home during self-clean.
