Possible Causes
Spilled food or grease on oven floor or elements, Foil covering racks or floor, New oven protective oils burning off
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure good kitchen ventilation. Avoid breathing heavy smoke; open windows and use the range hood.
- Inspect interior: Once cool, check the oven floor, walls, and racks for heavy grease or spills. Clean with a non-abrasive cleaner approved by Wolf.
- Remove foil: Do not line the oven floor or racks with foil, as it can trap heat and cause smoking.
- Burn-in for new ovens: For a new Wolf oven, run it empty at 400–450°F for 30–60 minutes to burn off manufacturing residues, following the use & care guide.
- Check elements: If smoke appears to come from an element, inspect for heavy buildup and clean gently when cool.
