Possible Causes

Broken boundary wire, Poor connection at boundary wire connectors, Faulty boundary wire transmitter in charging station, Interference from nearby cables or fences

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the mower and unplug the charging station from mains before working on the boundary wire.

  • Check charging station LEDs: On AL-KO stations, a steady green LED usually indicates a good loop. A flashing or off LED suggests a boundary fault. Refer to your model's manual.
  • Inspect visible wire: Walk the perimeter and look for damaged or cut wire, especially at edges, pathways, and where gardening work was recently done.
  • Test loop continuity: Disconnect the boundary wire ends from the station and measure resistance with a multimeter. Infinite resistance indicates a break.
  • Use loop isolation: Temporarily create a small test loop (5–10 m) of new wire directly at the station. If the station LED turns normal and E5 disappears when the mower runs inside this loop, the original boundary wire is damaged.
  • Repair wire: Locate the break by splitting the loop and testing each section. Use AL-KO-approved waterproof connectors to join broken ends.
  • Check station output: If even the short test loop fails, the charging station's transmitter board may be defective and needs replacement.
