Possible Causes

Mower lifted during operation, Excessive slope beyond specification, Faulty tilt sensor on main PCB, Loose chassis or damaged tilt switch bracket

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the mower is on level ground, switch it OFF, and wait for all moving parts to stop.

  • Check operating conditions: Confirm the mower is used only on slopes within the maximum gradient specified by Flymo. Avoid steep banks and steps.
  • Inspect wheels and chassis: Look for broken wheel mounts, cracked chassis, or anything that allows the mower body to tilt excessively during normal driving.
  • Clean around wheels: Remove grass clumps that may cause the mower to ride unevenly and trigger the tilt sensor.
  • Reboot: Turn the main switch OFF for 30 seconds, then ON again and start a new cycle.
  • Sensor check: If E5 appears even when the mower is stationary on flat ground, the tilt/lift sensor or main PCB may be defective and should be inspected or replaced by a technician.
